At the beginning of 2007, a new 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 common rail Diesel engine (code-named Puma), derived from the Ford Transit, replaced the TD5. Torque increased by 20%, and the gearbox now has 6 speeds. The vehicle's interior underwent a complete redesign, featuring a new dashboard and seats. A tachometer was introduced, and both heating and air conditioning saw significant improvements. The front row reduced from three seats to two. In Station Wagon models, the last row of seats now faces forward, replacing the rear-facing seats in previous versions. This change reduced seating capacity from seven to four in the 90 model and from nine to seven in the 110 model. You can identify TD4 Defenders by the bulge on the hood. During the year 2012, the 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 common rail Diesel engine (code-named Puma) was replaced by its 2.2-liter version (also sourced from the Ford Transit). Both torque and power remained unchanged, while driving comfort and operational quietness continued to improve. TD4 Defenders can be identified by the bulge on the hood. In 2015, before retiring this rugged off-roader, Land Rover introduced three new limited-edition special series on the Defender named Heritage, Adventure, and Autobiography, paying tribute to the durability, off-road capabilities, and luxury of this end-of-line model. In 2018, Land Rover reintroduced the Defender as a special series named Works V8 to celebrate the brand's 70th anniversary and its very first model. It was available in a limited run of 150 units, featuring a 400-horsepower V8 engine, with a price tag of €170,000.
