The first-generation Ford Granada was sold as a two-door coupe and four-door sedan, with the second-generation Granada sold as a two-door sedan, four-door sedan, and five-door station wagon (replacing the Ford Fairmont station wagon). While wearing an all-new body, the first-generation Granada retained the same chassis as the Maverick (with its platform origins dating back to the 1960 Ford Falcon). The second-generation Granada retained a similar role as its predecessor, becoming a higher-content version of the Ford Fairmont, shifting to the Ford Fox platform.
