Delta HF Integrale

The Lancia Delta HF Integrale is the road-going hero born from one of the most dominant campaigns in motorsport history. The Delta itself began in 1979 as a neat Giugiaro-designed family hatchback, but when Group B rallying collapsed in 1986 Lancia turned to the four-wheel-drive Delta as the basis for its new Group A weapon. The Lancia Delta HF Integrale arrived in 1987, combining a turbocharged 2.0-litre twin-cam engine with permanent all-wheel drive, blistered wheel arches and purposeful stance. On the World Rally Championship stages it was untouchable, winning the constructors' title six years in a row from 1987 to 1992 and carrying drivers such as Miki Biasion, Juha Kankkunen and Didier Auriol to glory. The road cars evolved in lockstep with the rally programme: the original 8-valve Lancia Delta HF Integrale gave around 185 horsepower, the 1989 16-valve version raised output to roughly 200 horsepower and added a more aggressive look, and the 1991 Evoluzione, known as the Evo I, brought wider tracks, even bigger arches and an adjustable roof spoiler. The final 1993 Evoluzione II produced around 215 horsepower and was sold largely as a series of colourful, collectible special editions celebrating the car's Martini rally liveries. Built at Chivasso until 1994 in roughly 44,000 examples across all Integrale versions, the Lancia Delta HF Integrale is today a blue-chip homologation icon.
