308 GTS

The FERRARI 308 GTS was unveiled in 1977 as the open-top, targa-roof companion to the 308 GTB coupé that had launched in 1975. Like its sibling, the FERRARI 308 GTS wore one of the most celebrated bodies of the era, styled by Pininfarina under the hand of Leonardo Fioravanti, whose wedge profile, side scoops and removable black roof panel made the FERRARI 308 GTS instantly recognisable. Power came from a transverse, mid-mounted 3.0-litre V8, mounted behind the cockpit and feeding the rear wheels. The earliest FERRARI 308 GTS cars used four Weber carburettors, before the FERRARI 308 GTS adopted Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection in 1980 to become the 308 GTSi. In 1982 the FERRARI 308 GTS gained four-valve-per-cylinder heads, creating the Quattrovalvole that restored the performance lost to tightening emissions rules. The FERRARI 308 GTS reached a level of pop-culture fame few Ferraris ever match, starring as Thomas Magnum's car in the television series Magnum P.I., which cemented the FERRARI 308 GTS as the definitive Ferrari silhouette of its decade. Today the FERRARI 308 GTS remains one of the most accessible and usable classic Ferraris on the market.
