A total of about 17,653 FERRARI 360 have been produced on earth in Italy between 1999 and 2005. The Ferrari 360 replaced the F355 in 1999 and represented the single biggest engineering leap in Maranello's V8 line since the 308. Developed in partnership with Alcoa, the Ferrari 360 was built around an all-aluminium spaceframe that was 28% lighter and 40% stiffer than the steel structure of the F355 — a change that let Ferrari grow the car in every dimension while keeping weight in check. Pininfarina's body, sculpted in the wind tunnel, dropped the pop-up headlamps and the traditional side strakes and introduced the twin round air intakes that would define the modern Ferrari face. Behind the cabin sat a 3.6-litre 40-valve V8 producing 400 hp at 8,500 rpm, mated to a six-speed manual gate or the paddle-shift F1 automated manual that would soon take over the market entirely. The Ferrari 360 Modena coupé arrived first; the 360 Spider followed in 2000 with a fully automatic folding roof. In 2003 came the model everyone now chases: the 360 Challenge Stradale, 110 kg lighter, with 425 hp, carbon-ceramic brakes and a track-derived setup — only 1,288 were made. Production of the Ferrari 360 totalled roughly 8,800 Modenas, 7,565 Spiders and 1,288 Challenge Stradales before the F430 replaced it in 2005. The Ferrari 360 has become the entry point to modern Ferrari ownership, with gated-manual Modenas appreciating sharply and the Challenge Stradale now a certified blue-chip.
